Before the sex, before the city, there was Carrie… AND Rima.

Hello luvs,

So… It’s been a while. I know, I know… I’m hanging my head in shame, BUT, you can’t say I didn’t warn you! I FULLY disclosed my commitment issues ahead of time. AND, what can I say… life’s been good :) Things to do, places to go, people to see… Ya know. BUT, I am back now. Well, for the time being. OK… At least for this week. Not going to lie, I’ve been super busy with school/work/life, but that is no excuse. Where there is a will there is a way. AND I was quite impressed by those of you who realized that I hadn’t posted and felt the need to ask about it!!?? What, what?? I’m glad I have some impact on a few of yall’s Fridays! That kinda makes me happy! And THEREFORE, YES, I will do my best to stay on track and post once a week. On that note… Speaking of impacts… My lovely sister visited me from Texas this past week, and I am DEFINITELY feeling the impact. Impact is the word I use simply because I cannot think of a stronger word to describe her presence. Hmm… Lemme think… She impacts one somewhat similar to how a hurricane impacts a coastal city. Let’s just say, if the next natural disaster was dubbed: hurricane/snowstorm/tsunami RIMA, it would be a fitting moniker.

Oh jeez... She hits with full force. Lemme tell ya. I feel like ALL we have done is eat our way around the city and walk until we are exhausted beyond belief! It is horrible and nauseating yet sublime and exhilarating all at once! I LOVE having her here and will be highly depressed when she leaves :( BUT, I am sure my body will thank me. It has been shocked with too many sweets/savories/coffees/ and cart foods to handle. You name it, we’ve ingested it. Truth be told, it’s not as horrible as I make it sound, but it has DEFINIETLY ventured outside my normal “healthy shiz” food routine that I keep to, as my sister calls it. AND despite the full throttle exercising that’s going to happen next week, I will really miss my sister and ALL her craziness when she’s gone. Tear. She is my other half... the CRAZY one, OBVIOUSLY, but hey…everyone needs someone in their life that makes them feel like they could be dragged away to the looney bin at any second and all would still be well. She’s kinda like my personal Kardashian… She entertains me and makes me feel so much better about my life when I hear about the shiz she goes through. Thank GOD I’m not in my teens anymore. Aint nobody got time for that. (To quote Rima, quoting Pinterest.) (YES. I’m shaking my head right now. I don’t know whether to be proud or disgusted. But since we’re blood related, I'm a proponent of the first.) Again, in all honesty, I’m going to miss her SO much. So NO thinking about that today. I will deal with that tomorrow. When she heads back to the grand ol state of Texas to join them in their secession. For now, we will discuss our past week’s shenanigans in the Big Apple, and reminisce on the near illegal activities we may or may not have engaged in. Nobody saw nothin, you hear? Here we go…

For the past week, we have been exploring the city and meandering down streets and alleyways… many of which we should not have meandered… BUT, since when has that stopped us? (Rima, don't answer. That's hypothetical, and here is not the place to air our dirty laundry.) It has been such a great experience seeing the city from my sister's viewpoint, and therefore, today’s blog is about Rima Bradshaw… NY city exploratore. (Not a real word, I know. But just go with it... You understand what I mean, and I like the way it sounds.)

TO BEGIN, let me tell you something about my sister.. She is NOT above posing for pictures... ANYWHERE. Subway station?? Why not.

And I'M not going to allow her to one up me!!! That's RIDICULOUS. So...

YEP. We are THOSE people taking pictures and harassing other poor NYers to take our photo. She has no shame... What can I say?

THIS was interesting... Some physics joke about a girl named Carroll, that's blind because she didn't wear her safety goggles?? IDK. She said it was an inside joke shared with my brother. AGAIN... I don't question the crazy. It's just safer that way. If I'm questioned by the popo, I can honestly say, "Officer, I DON'T know. I just don't know."

On a lighter note... We DID do the walk of shame through Times Square... Where you walk as slow as possible and take pics of EVERYTHING you will never need to refer back to... See below.

"Oh hey, remember that Gentelman's Club we wanted to go to, but they wouldn't let us in because we weren't gentlemen.. Yeah, bummer." But otherwise, good times!

Nothing like a nice Thomson Reuters billboard... Rima, my dear, WHAT was the point of this picture?

OH, my FAV! Remember crazy, creepy "lady liberty" that was actually a 6'5 man?! Yeah, BEST part of the NY trip, by FAR.

Aren't you glad you spend so much time on your trips taking pictures of USELESS shiz??! Don't act like you don't, because you do.

ACTUAL pics worth taking...
Rima at SHAKE SHACK!! If it wasn't so crowded, I'm pretty sure she would have gone up and ordered seconds. Not gonna lie... I had to hold her back. NOTHING and I repeat NOTHING gets between Rima and her food. EXCEPT long lines. (Thank God, or we would never have left this place.)

And MORE photos of Rima and food. This particular photo was dubbed the "hot dog" disaster... Rima wanted to try cart food and was highly disappointed by this "tasteless" hot dog... No worries, I took her to a Halal food cart for some chicken gyro and all was resolved, but she still felt highly inclined to give Mr. Inadequate Food Cart a piece of her mind.
(After going through our pictures, I've realized that if my sister is NOT posing in a photo, it is because she's carrying some type of food item at all times. Like I said... We LITERALLY ATE our way through this city... As in eating from one place to the next, ON THE WAY to places to eat. Oh Rima, Rima.)

OH, this was fun. After our many food drop ins, we would SOMETIMES, on the RARE occasion, have leftovers. SO.. Upon wandering through Central Park, my sister happened to put down her leftover bag and would sometimes venture far from it to POSE for a picture. In the process of doing so, a nice park cop came and picked up what he thought was a bag of trash left by someone, and proceeded to head to throw it away. LEMME TELL YOU... A cop about to dispose of her leftovers is the ONLY thing I have seen, as of yet, that has gotten my sister, one of the VAINEST people in the world, to STOP posing for the camera and run after her food! Bahahaaa... I still can't stop laughing. I should have videotaped it, but I am not NEARLY THAT collected a person. I was bent over wheezing... We'll leave it at that.

POST cop/food fiasco. All is well again in the world.

Oh jeez... SO, Rima wanted to see FAO Schwartz, AKA "that toy store in the Home Alone movie." So, we went. She was confused as to why it looked different and therefore proceeded to ask this kind worker, WHY their store was so much smaller and just "ugh" in real life as opposed to the awesomeness portrayed in the movie? WELL, you want to know why?? Because the movie toy store is only BASED on FAO Schwartz and the "movie" toy store DOES NOT ACTUALLY EXIST... WHAT?? Even I was saddened by this knowledge, but poor Rima... A little part of her died that day. She was affected, to say the least. So much so, that she didn't even want any of the candy inside the FAO Schweetz section... It was that bad.

An unexpected part of our trip was going to church. Let me explain.. If you know my sister, you will realize the irony in this and the HUGE feat it embodies. Now, I am a HUGE fan of religious architecture, but my sister... NOT SO MUCH. You normally can't PAY her to enter a religious institution. However, the stars aligned and she SOMEHOW became strangely fascinated by St. Patrick's renovations. THEREFORE, she proceeded to take pictures throughout the church even when it was "suggested that she not." Oh lordy. No pun intended. NO ONE should "suggest" things to my sister if they actually expect her to willingly comply... Let's just say that we MAY have a TON of cathedral photos that church clergy MIGHT have "suggested" we delete. I'm sure God understands though... If ANYTHING, I'm sure he's happy for Rima's new found appreciation for the "really pretty colored windows" and "high ceilings." Yeah. Yep. Pretty sure.

MORE food. OMG. I can't. I just can't. I have NEVER eaten so much in my life... Candy, cookies, sweets, you name it.. ALL OF THE ABOVE, now inside my belly.

AGAIN, homegirl here is NOT above posing in restaurants, on street corners, wherever the hell she pleases... EN VOGUE... ALL the time...

What?? I can't have her stealing ALL the limelight! That being said, I got nothin on Diva Rima.

So, this is the ONE place we didn't actually eat. The line was HELLA long and we kind of just wanted to go for the frozen hot chocolate... Next trip, Rima, next trip. But that doesn't mean she didn't make full use of the photo op.

More food. And OH SO GOOD! We highly suggest their Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies!! HOLY SHIZ! Just do it... Pay the four bucks for a cookie and make the investment. You won't be sorry!

Rounding things out, the trip would not have been complete without shopping, and MORE tourist attractions including the REAL Lady Liberty, and the High Line, where Rima proceeded to re-enact a photo shoot, starring hers truly. Like I said, restaurant, street corner, potted shrubbery... ALL is fair game for this girl.

All in all, she had a LOVELY trip to NY, and I had a GREAT time hauling her all over the city! (With the lure of food, of course...) I promised BOTH sweet AND savory after the Staten Island Ferry ride. What can I say, she's not an easy one, this child.

Well, it is now Friday and I am off to enjoy Rima's last day in the city. Sad day. We shall feast like queens and shop like paupers... but ya know... priorities.

Enjoy your St. Patrick's day/weekend my luvs and stay safe!
Remember... Only CERTAIN foods/drinks should come in St. Patty's shade of green. Just keep that in mind when nursing your 5th Irish themed beverage :)

Till next time my dears,
<3

PS- Please excuse the horrible title of this blog post... but it's OH so fitting. Rima has been quoting Sex and the City since she arrived, and it won't stop. MAKE it stop.

Videos of the week:

 Desert Cold by Penguin Prison.
IDK. Rima keeps playing it, so it's stuck in my head. BUT it kinda grows on you. Give it a listen.

AND
MY picks
